Student Traveling Exhibition
“A Matter of Perspective”
Bowling Green, Kentucky – November 19, 2014 – The 2015 VSA Kentucky Student Traveling Exhibition, “A Matter of Perspective”, showcasing original artwork created by K-12 students with disabilities from schools throughout Kentucky will debut at the 2014 Kentucky Exceptional Children’s Conference at the Galt House in Louisville, November 23 – 25, 2014. This exhibit travels January through September each year to schools and other community venues throughout the state. In March the artwork will be on display at the Capitol Plaza Tower in Frankfort during Youth Art Month.
This year’s exhibit consists of 28 artworks from 20 schools. Subjects include architecture, animals, landscapes, portraits and designs with styles ranging from realistic to abstract. Students expressed themselves using a variety of artistic media; acrylics, watercolor, tempera, pencil, colored pencil, crayons, markers, ink, and mixed media. Exploring various techniques and processes these young artists produced imaginative works of art using collage, drawing, painting and digital media.
In October every year, VSA Kentucky extends a Call for Art to students with disabilities in Kentucky schools, grades K-12. Teachers and parents may submit student work. Selected artworks are matted and prepared to travel. The exhibit comes with a packet of educational activities that help to engage students in the exhibit. Our goal is to recognize and share the artistic accomplishment of students with disabilities in the visual arts throughout the Commonwealth. The Student Traveling Exhibition program uses the visual arts as an educational tool, as well as, a vehicle for artistic expression for children and youth with disabilities.
This exhibit is free of charge. It is available to schools, museums, businesses, libraries, and hospitals. To view the entire exhibit go to and enter VSA Kentucky.
